I have done it as the Extension Agent and worked with them as farmer. I would do it again but that is the kind of person I am. It is a lot of work. You really have define your objectives and eliminate variables as much as possible. Repeat it 3 times with success and you have a winner.

Most recent is
corn hybrids
LL vs. RR vs. non GMO soybeans
lime vs no lime
seed treatments
inoculants
cover crops

So much to try and keep refining your highest profit, best management practices.
