I was at an informational meeting a couple days ago concerning a coming wind farm.  A county office employee said she and the other employees were promised a raise when a wind farm was built in her county.  When it came time for the raise they were told there wasn't enough money for raises.  In this county the supervisor of assessments projected the county offices would receive an additional $47,000 per year in tax revenue after the recently built 94 tower farm started paying its tax bill.  That'll make a huge difference - Not!  And the schools will get a substantial increase in tax revenue, but then the state will reduce the state aid almost an equal value.  The purpose of the wind farms is to milk the federal government for subsidies!
