Martinsville, Ohio
Some years we can produce a bushel on .7 lbs of N. This year it took .7 to 1 lb or maybe even 1.2 lbs to get the yields in this crazy year.

Personally I would go at least 150-160 total but I am getting some from my soil biological program. I can do it all upfront and you probably want a stabilizer or spread it out on the planter, in the herbicide and side dress. The last is most consistent I think. One things farmers say when putting N on the planter with Sulfur they see immeadiate improvement and many keep increasing their rates, even slowing down fills to get the job done.

Radishes and legumes release some N as green manures and manure farmers have the best deal in the country today. I also get increased efficiency with trichaderma's like you get when you apply Quick Roots or SabrEx and I like it seed company applied so I don't have to planter box it.
