West Tennessee | The Illinois statue says ".............shall wear a properly adjusted and fastened seat safety belt......" I don't know how the judge would interpret this but personally I would think you'd be in violation because it really wasn't "properly adjusted". There is also an exception for someone with a medical condition but requires a written statement from a physician. That might work for your wife. BTW the statute also says they can't pull you over just for this. You didn't indicate why you were pulled over so not sure if that's an issue or not. Good luck and let us know how it turns out. | |
