No court costs involved unless you challenge it and lose. I got a seat belt ticket last summer - wrote a $10 check to the clerk of court and when they get the check, it is as good as pleading guilty or no contest.

WI started out only ticketing the driver and only could ticket you if they pulled you over for some other traffic violation. Now they are ticketing the whole car load if nobody is wearing belts and can now pull you over for it. I only wear belts about half the time - mostly in the winter. I've driven right by squad cars numerous times without belts and haven't been pulled over yet - maybe just by luck. The ticket last summer was a result of being pulled over for no front plate on my beater daily driver and I had already ordered a replacement plate.
