| We have a blended service at our (my wife grew up there) church. I, for one, DO NOT like it. They rarely if ever sing from the hymnal, and the choir is a shadow of what it should be in a church that size. I wonder how many older members (I am 41, so don't know if I mean me) have left because of that. I am NOT a fan of most all of the "Praise" songs we sing, as they seem trite and meaningless to me, but I was raised in the Methodist church (we attend a Baptist church). I understand the thougt process behind it (wanting to attract younger people), but I feel it has turned off a lot of the older members whom I see stand but not singing (like myself).
What effect have others seen on their church from similar changes? I wonder about the financial affect on the church, as I would assume more of the older members were raised to tithe. | |
