c_james_10 - 8/18/2011 22:38 The soybeans look good. My opinion, however, is that they are way too rank to maximize yield. I would much prefer a plant between knee and waist high closer nodes, more pods and less plant. I see this often where the plant appears lush and vigorous but the shorter more compact plant will consistently out yield these monster straw producing beans. In fact often times plants purposely stressed at the correct time will bust the bin. These plants sure look happy but I think if you had disciplined them some while they were growing up you would see many more pods and you would be amazed at the yield improvement. I would agree James. we see it both ways over the years. this Number. from NK. has for the past 3 seasons been the top yield-er out of about 8 numbers from 3 company's planted on this farm. measuring in the 98 to 110 or so Bu. in some specific areas. This Number will not be available from NK. next season I have heard. and I in No way will even guess a S.B. Yield ever. until sold across the scales. other fields are much shorter and the pods are close set. so only at harvest will we know for sure. how it works this season. |
