Lander, WY | She was a classic (in my mind anyway) breeding pig, long, deep through the chest, wide in the front, but not the heavily muscled show pig type, and she had the perfect disposition, like a big dog, happy and calm... She came from a farm where her mother is one of his main brood sows, and he was happy we took her because her mother works so well for him. The vet said she definitely had a very tight pelvis, add in big piglets... We had already decided none of her pigs would be retained, and we had talked about not even breeding her back, tight pelvis isn't good for breeding pigs, good learning lesson for my son, to actually think about whether an animal is good for breeding...
Thanks guys, once again this is one of the best sites on the net! | |
