TOM/MN - 4/5/2011 12:58 Yes tires are the first thing to look at. A few years ago I bought two new silage boxes with tandem gears. Dealer didn`t have them on the lot, but that wasn`t a concern because they were going to be new. Never thought of tire options back then accept for the size. Ended up one came with firestone and the other with titan. Those titans have been a disaster. Wouldn`t hold air for more than a month so I ended up putting tubes in all of them. Have had to replace 4 out of 6 already because of sidewall cracking next to the rim. And no we didn`t run them low. Had to check the air on them every time we used them. Titan could have cared less. Tried to trade them off for a set of new firestones when they were 2 months old and dealer said they weren`t worth anything on trade. AARRGGHH!!!!!!!!!!! Firestones after sitting all winter might be down a couple of pounds.

When you tell me the tires are cracking next to the rim, it means one thing – the tires are overloaded for their rating. Call or send me an e-mail and I will have someone come see if the OE put on proper tires for the load to be carried.
