Wallis, TX | I wouldn't use clearcoat, it is too hard to get everywhere and get a shine. We use single stage 2K Urethane from DuPont on 95% of our restorations. Shines great, relatively easy to use, very durable and can be touched up with a brush and still look OK. JD yellow 263 is a perfect match, 262 is classic green(the darker green on 2 cylinders). We use G191 for new JD green, not perfect, but real close. G188 will also be very close but will be a little 'limey' when compared to a new tractor.
Like others have said, is a 'system'. We use epoxy primer, sandable 2k urethane on the sheetmetal and then the top coats. Don't try to put the urethane top coat over enamel primer, about half the time the solvents in the top coat will take the primer off or make cottage cheese of it.
