Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | I'm in somewhat of the same position. I noticed that the adapter for going to one brand of camera uses only three wires which is consistent with your observations.
My goal is to mate an existing camera that we have to the CFX-750. The camera that I want to use has a different connector. I am waiting on an adapter for this type of camera so that I can reverse engineer it to make my own cable from a defunct harness to monitor. If the adapter for this style connector ever shows up, I should be in business.
I assume (always dangerous) that my camera has four wires (Power, Ground, Video Signal and Video ground). It would seem that the two grounds might be tied together. Again I agree with your observations.
I will post if and when I'm successful. Please do the same. Apparently you have had some success as you mention not using the Video ground on Pin 6.
