If at all possible try out the 5488 before you buy it if you are leaning that way. Cab layout is unique to put it kindly. Check to see if parts are available for the MFWD axle. We owned a 5288 2wd and I never enjoyed driving the tractor. The Magnum's were a huge leap forward on almost every front, despite the fact of a lot of parts commonality.
