SW Iowa | If they just stuck you the charge w/o any giving you options, then, horse sheet. But, was the 15% a minor amount of the total repair bill? Maybe they figured you wanted it out the door more than paying the minor charge, and went ahead with the decision to do it. In that case they were trying to get it done for you ASAP
I've seen the 15% overnight shipping charge before in other businesses I do business with. I don't know why with modern computerized parts handling they have to add, but they do. If you wait for the normal weekly stocking order there is no charge, but, I have to wonder if the dealer gets a discount for a normal weekly order and just keeps it. We'll never know all the ins and outs of doing business as a mega John Deere dealer, but I have yet to hear of any of them going broke. In the same token, the small mom and pop JD store always seemed to struggle either in the service or in the sales. Those small independent dealers always had a sad story, but they stayed in business for years and years. Probably gave the John Deere factory reps fits dealing with them too. Kept everyone honest that way. nothing wrong with that, The mega dealers probably don't squeal near as much, 'cause Deere is in the middle of financing everything they do. | |
