Really enjoy running them oldies, easier on the pocketbook too! I figure as long as parts are available, why not. Them new machines aren't problem-free. Could possibly start a new forum w/ some of the stories some fellow farmers can tell about new equipment failures. I have the peace of mind that if it lets me down I won't feel too bad, not a lot invested. My brother- in -law is a pilot. He flies the little 2 seaters and tells me many of those planes were built in the 50's and 60's. If they can keep an old plane safe in the air it should be possible to run some older farm equipment on the dirt! Our newest is 15 years old. A JD 6600 takes off our crops. Running a repainted Ford 8700 and JD 1830 chore tractor. Maybe we're small- time-operators at 300 acres plus some custom work, who cares, I'm thankful to farm.
