I started November 29th, I have been at this hard and have lost 30lbs already (285 to 255) My plan of attack for this so far has been to eat about/under 2000 calories and burning about 5500 a day. 3500 calories is a pound of fat. I do fear that Christmas season is going to hard to not eat all those tasty christmas cookies.
