as I recall,  when one of the other ag discussion boards went to that kind of system,  it made a bunch of people mad - they did not like it.  So, AgTalk was started, and that was one of the "requirements"  - set it up like it is now, and NOT have the threads moving all over the place. 

At least that is how *I* remember it.
