C IL | Wildcat jr. here ... I'd like to acknowledge both btruck and Lizton farmer for pointing out that a computer is merely a tool, which can be used in many ways.
I'm more efficient when using adequate tools, and I think it's reasonable to expect our public schools to provide adequate tools to our young people. I'm much happier typing 50 words per minute and storing data electronically than scribbling on paper and rewriting a final copy. As we can now say, 'that was so 1900's'.
I think we can all agree that we want the best from our young people and also that our society/norms/standards have changed over time - and that the desirability of those changes vary in the eye of the beholder. | |
