Tillage is a poor man's drainage. I don't know who to quote on this one, but the more you observe and pay attention the more true the statement. The optimum soil condition for plant growth and development is a blocky structure soil that is friable to pressure by hand. All photos presented show chunky, platey soil conditions where the soil structure is deteriorated. Tillage of any kind is a very short term "solution" and will actually result in more compaction over the next season and years to come. Those that truely study these conditions (ie. Jill Clapperton, Randall Reeder, Lloyd Murdock, Bill Edwards, to name of few) have presented the facts and science that most should understand if they put forth the effort. If not that's OK to live in bliss like those with only opinions... feelings. To Till or Not to Till... that is a value judgement.
