Alton, Ia
How is it "not debatable"? Do you have any data to back this up? I'm not trying to be a smart ass, but I like facts, not opnions. I realize what everyone says, the elevator has the grain, and knows you have to sell it, but is there any proof the basis increases with price later? How is this any different than warehousing it in October? They have physical control of the bushels, they know you have to sell someday. It's doubtful anybody would pull grain out to haul down the road to resell so how is that different?

In our situation, we deliver to a co-op with 5 mil bushel of storage. Right now, they are about 50% full. So does me and my neighbors hauling in a few hundred thousand bushels really matter?

Just a wondering.
