Subject: RE: pollination of table beets and swiss chard

Panhandle of Ne.
I have also been told that there is a specified area where the beet seed is grown and a specified area where the organic crops are supposed to be grown, but the organic farmers have moved outside the specified area and are now crying "wolf" because there is a concern that the RR beets MIGHT cross with their organic crops, not that they have, but they might. They couldn't find a court in the NW to touch the lawsuit so had to go to California. This lawsuit has nothing to do with the planting of RR beets, but where the RR seed is grown.

Just what I have been told by a very reliable source. If this is true, this is one of the biggest waste of time. money and court system I can imagine.

I have also heard what Nar was talking about that the seed cos. are growing seed beets in other places now.
