Between the forest and lake pics all I could think about was hunting n' fishing. ( I can bet winter's are a challenge to feed in. if you've got cows) 

Friend of mine drives to Orifino (I believe is the right town) then hires a plane to fly him and his hunting gear into a private airstrip in the middle of the Nez Perce N.F.  He camps (along with other guys) at the end of the runway and hunts up the mountains from there. It's apparently all vehicle-less wilderness area. All that's allowed is walking or horseback to get into there.  Pretty dang remote but awful nice area.
