| I'm also wondering about your yield and the fertilizer to make it. What seed is it, and is it gly tolerant? I feel like winter canola could be a perfect rotation to winter wheat. Have fields with crabgrass and panicum infestations that Dual and other pre's don't do so well on, and the wild pigs get to be a terror on them so spring crops don't do too good. Plus I like the extra grazing the crabgrass makes in the summer, I quit fighting it and am trying to use it more now. My brother transplanted some winter canola in Nov. from south central KS here (north central TX) after a pheasant hunt trip. It looks "good" I guess, don't really know what to look for but its about 40 to 45 inches tall and looked like yours 2 weeks ago. Now some pods, maybe 10% are brown. I think if it was a whole field I'd swath in a week to 10 days and the crabgrass could come right on. I thought there was somebody on here from OK growing winter canola? I appreciate your input. | |
