Holly Hill, SC | I do it all the time using Case IH combines with JD autosteer. Set your AB line swath width to 73' or 73.5'. One combine starts and the next follows behind. I guess with that big of a header you will being using Grain Carts which will complicate things. I do not use grain cart with my soybeans or wheat, only corn. This method of both combines staying together works well. Truck is positioned at the end of the row where we are working. Next truck gets positioned down the line. I do not like having two combines working away from each other or working opposite sides.
I run a 20' and 25' header. (set width to 43.5') When I had three combines and three drivers, 17.5', 20', 25' (set to 59.5').
Try to let the larger header lead that way the swaths left behind can be harvested by either combine. If the small header leads to far and leaves a bunch of 40' swaths behind and the 40' combine breaks down, not very efficient to clean up.
