Sumner GA, Located in southwest GA, | None, good innoculation and you don't have to, like soybeans or alfalfa. Just a different strain. Vault, Peanut Special, few others come to mind, then you have liquid, granular, and hopperbox options. Peanuts need calcium, lots of calcium or else you get problems with "pops", LSKs, and peanuts not holding to their pods while pegging. Around here, it has been proved time and time again that peanuts do best in twin rows, less disease, better row closure, and better yeilds. Lots of Monosem planters doing that work here now, just such an expensive option. I want to see Great Plains bring one of their twin row planters here to see how they do handling peanuts in comparison.
PS: What variety of seed was it, or did it say? I would suspect a Virginia variety, runners will work you to death to shell out enough to be meaningful. |
