Looking to switch from trimble guidance to my integra i have trying to cut down on screens in the cab have a 8430t and a hagie 2100 sprayer i think the steady steer would be the most economical to swap between machines
As mentioned above, at least an InCommand display is needed. I have Steady Steer in my combine for harvesting rowed soybeans. It works well there with an InCommand 1200 and Ag Leader's GPS 7500 unlocked and subscribed to Terra Star Pro C. That InCommand and GPS are used with the planting tractor during planting time with SteerCommand Z2.
It works well for harvesting soybeans in our situation since we plant with a 24-30 planter but harvest with a 35' draper. We take 14 rows but the 35' draper gives us some wiggle room on each end.
I tried using Steady Steer in the combine for corn harvest also based on the AB lines from planting since they were already present in the InCommand. The corn head is a 608C chopping corn head so it is always harvesting the left, right or center of a planter pass. However, due to planter drift, it did not follow the rows as nicely as I wanted.
I purchased a Truesight II feeler system for my corn head. It uses the InCommand and its own Steering Controller Module which is controlled by a set of feelers on the corn head. It uses the Steady Steer motor to steer the combine.
This means my combine has two steering systems in it. They both use the same Steady Steer motor to turn the steering wheel. To go from soybeans to corn, I need to unplug the motor cable and move it from the Steady Steer controller to the Truesight Steering controller. I also move my engage/disengage switch from one to the other. They each work well.
Now Ag Leader offers a feeler system of thier own. It requires the current GO displays.
We move the Steady Steer system to the Hagie STS-12 sprayer for broadacre spraying. It works "Ok" there depending on the ground conditions for Pre Plant chemical application. For post row applications, Steady Steer does not work well for us and my Great Nephew hand steers for all post applications which are rowed soybeans and rowed corn.
Steady steer is a great product but is not applicable to all situations. It may be fine for your tractor but I suspect you will find the same problems that we did with the Hagie. Spraying broadacre or rowed crops crosswise might be fine.
However your Integra won't work with it. I was just talking with my salesman this morning and he mentioned some "deals" might be coming. In the past Ag Leader has offered some trade up programs that are quite attractive. If so, this might be a time to consider a newer display.
