I am not using Gallagher but another brand,, the pricing structure is similar. I am finding that while my ability to utilize forage is way up my biggest benefit is in time savings.
I have a few cows and 39 of them are wearing collars. My day job is my construction company. I would say in the 6 months I have been running virtual fence I have saved at least six full days and probably at least as many half days of time that would have been spent on the ranch and instead I was at a jobsite. That might not seem like much but at construction rates it has already paid for at least the %20 of the purchase price.
Curious how you set it up or train them. Only know one guy who has tried collars here and he just puts up a single electrical line up to help them learn the field limits , but he also realized he needed something up visually or every car that went by would stop in and tell him his cows were out. |
