Good post...and I really think you're correct, especially in certain (not all) areas. Here in MO there are lots of steep ditchy draws and off areas that can never be farmed. Biggest problem is some of those areas about aren't worth fencing and in often cases the deer hunter owners don't want cows walking around on their cameras. I have a chopping crew coming shortly. They will make more feed in 4 hours than I can make in weeks of chasing patchy hay fields. Good bagged feed can be fed to a lot of cows in a drylot situation
What are you chopping? It's getting too late for wheat, rye, or triticale around here. Burkholder? |
