Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | Good to hear. Poor grounds are the cause of many electrical mysteries. This is an area where a meter can be deceiving since by design a meter does not impose much of an electrical load.
By using a meter, one might decide that the ground is good when it is just holding by a few strands.
I had something like this happen to me on a Deere 4400 combine when I was younger. The electrical header clutch would not stay engaged. I removed the wire at the clutch and tested it with a meter. It showed 12V with the switch engaged as it should. This puzzled me and at first I thought the clutch was bad. Turn out the wire leading to the electric clutch had partially worn through since it had been rubbing on a shaft under the seat. The remaining strands would not carry the electrical load of the clutch but yet showed 12V on my meter.
Cutting out the weak spot fixed the problem.
