The 40 series Deeres were so far ahead of IH, at the time, they weren't even in the same league.
In the mid 80's I used to pull a 40 ft field cultivator (6 " spacing) with a 4840 Deere, fitted with dual 24.5/32 tires, filled with water. That thing could really put the power to the ground!
