SW OH | 4840s were very popular around here. I know of probably 10 around here that were bought new. When they were the new they were the BMOC. Big power but only 2 wheel drive. Only available with an 8 speed powershift transmission. Nearly bulletproof but 4th gear was too slow and 5th was to fast. It was hard to put that much power to the ground.
All 40 series row crop tractors were an improvement over the 30 series which was a substantial improvement for Deere.
