NE | dsltech360 - 12/2/2025 20:46 Honestly i would stay away from the MX. Im also MX certified. You need to do everything to the T on these for maintenance. Air system management cleaning periodically, using OEM filters, if your having a shop work on it they need to know what they are doing. You can only get parts for them from a peterbilt or KW dealer. 2017+ MX engines had camshaft issues there was a campaign to replace them but still have issues, CCV filter modules go out, liners dropping and causing headgaskets to blow (Cummins has this problem to), air compressors go out.(PIA to change) 2020+ have injector issues. Ultra shift is better then an an Eaton Endurant/Paccar 12 speed transmission
Appreciate the input. There sure is a mixed bag of how good the MX are. I have noticed you don't see hardly any of these trucks over 700k for sale which tells me they don't last. This one came from CA originally for around 18k guy cleaned it up fixed what needed to be and wants upper twenties. Compared to others it's not out of line. Every truck has problems; I figured for the lower miles it should last for a while. |
