north central iowa | I think the automatics have held up pretty well. I have sold several Petes, KW, Freightliner and Macks with automatics and across the board have held up well. I have used them with no issues on my farm pulling that kind of weight. The horizontal exhaust is more common today. I have used these trucks with horizontal exhausts w/o causing any fires. Keep in mind the dpf filter is down low whether you have a horizontal or vertical exhaust. I know you will hear from others that they know of fields that have caught fire. Keep rear end ratios at 2.8 and above. If you are pulling hills at highway speed you would want 3.25 or higher.
