Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | As far as the power goes, I agree. I use an Ag Leader Steady Steer in my 9770 with my InCommand 1200. I was using an older display cable with an adapter. It did not have the power or activation branches in its harness. I could have purchased a new display cable that would have plugged into my InCommand 1200 and had the activation branch for steering.
Instead, I made a stub connector to supply the power. It just came from a decent 12V keyed source. It needs to be decent sized since it needs to supply enough current to run the motor to turn your steering wheel.
Last year, I added a feeler system to steer the combine for corn harvest from the Headsight folks. It needs an ISO branch to communicate with the InCommand 1200 so I needed to change out the display cable anyway since my old display cable did not have an ISO branch. I could have changed the steering power to the new cable but I didn't bother since it works fine.
In soybeans, the steering is done based on AB lines through the InCommand 1200. In corn, the steering is done based on feelers on the corn head through the Headsight controller. They each use my original Steady Steer motor. I have to move one connector from the Ag Leader steering controller to the Headsight steering controller when switching crops and the steering method.
