Subject: RE: Dry fert strip tillers?

Reason I’m looking into this is we have a pretty aggressive dry spread program and keep up on fertility. That being said we have phosphorus out the nose on a lot of ground but we can not hold Potassium at all. We can spread 500lb to the acre and it won’t raise our level from year to year much at all. I’m looking at the next rung on the ladder as we keep climbing the yield ladder and I think this could be a huge boost for us in our area. We could get way more fertility to the plants quicker and know it’s in the ground instead of ontop as we do boil/minimum till. I’m wanting either a 4 row or 8row something to try for a couple years on small scale to play and see what we find. Might be nothing and keep doing what we’re doing but if you never try you never learn. How do you correlate ratio when you’re dropping in a band? Example: VR all our dry but if an area calls for 300lbs of potash do you apply that much in strip or do you have a ratio to cut it back since your efficiency goes way up!?
