Subject: RE: NTRIP base station hosting

Middlesex County, Ontario
My base station software (rtkbase) includes local hosting. I use tailscale (free mesh VPN software) to make the base and rovers all appear on the same local network. That way I’m not relying on an external caster like rtk2go. That way I’m also able to access my home network from anywhere to view barn cameras, print things, access network drive, etc.

I do also use rtkdata.online as a caster for sharing my RTK base station with others. It used to be really good but quality has started to slip so I’m not sure I’d recommend it today. Centipede and Emlid casters are well regarded. I’ve tried rtk2go and I am so glad I moved on from it, just constant issues with it.
