I think it’s a good idea - but they should either let it out of the bag right now, or wait a year. I’d also be in favor of a model that has a phased out subsidy for beginning farmers - say 10 years as long as you’re below median farm size of your county. USDA should really be focusing transitioning to the younger generations - and that’s everything from the guy wanting a 3-5 acre high value veggie/vineyard plot to grain farmers.
