Why should the USDA be focusing on transitioning to the younger generations? People have been worrying about that as far back as I can remember. During that time lots of young farmers have managed to get started without much of any govt help. And quite a few that did get reduced interest loans/loan forgiveness/etc have gone out of business, many of them should have gone out of business much sooner. The govt hasn't been very good at picking winners and losers in farming or anywhere else for that matter. The easiest way for people to get started in farming is by improving the markets for our products. Govt officials who unilaterally break trade agreements, enact tariffs and publicly call our trade partners "enemies" are very destructive to the farming industry.
