What are some good ones for farm use? I have no experience with one so what should I be looking for? Would be used for seed and chems mostly. Tia

I have a Clark with pneumatic tires 6,000 lb capacity and two stage mast which will go 13 ft high. 3 stage mast would go higher but for my use I don’t have any issues..

I currently have a TCM, not made anymore. Dealer i bought it from is still selling fork trucks. I had a leaky tilt cylinder and wanted a seal kit last year. After many phone call i was told its not available. I think it was prob more of a poor parts guy honestly. Now today running it outside, both tilt cylinders started leaking real bad. Leaving puddles on the floor.

What im getting at, find a good dealer thats close by.

Other than the leaky tilt cylinders, i like my TCM.
Edit to add, mine is 5000 lbs. 4 foot tines. side shift. Bigger is always better if you have the room to maneuver it. I have 3 stage, can change lights in my shop, 20' sidewalls.

Look for a locally run cylinder repair shop, they can size the cylinder and find a kit

Look up Allied Seal in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. I almost guarantee they will have the seals you need and ship them the same day. They don’t actually repair cylinders but have nearly everything in stock. You may have to have your cylinder disassembled to give them dimensions.

Get one that has separate clut h and brake.

The combo pedals make it hard to inch on a grade.

Thumb of Michigan
Side shift, outside tires (more ground clearance, just in case you might wonder outside), lastly whatever kind your local high/low shop fixes/repairs/has parts for.

Good friend sells and refurbishes forklifts. He says there’s Toyota and then there’s everything else. Not in my area but took his advice. He knew I wasn’t buying from him when he told me that.

5000lb Toyota here with 3 stage mast. Pneumatic tires. Side shift. LP only. Fantastic rig. Can go on gravel. I take it on the grass when dry. I believe anything bigger gets wider than pallets or totes.

Next one is gonna have hyd adjust fork width and dual fuel. Sure gets old getting propane tanks filled.

Get a good one. You don’t want other people driving junk.

We use it more than ever imagined.

If you use propane to heat your shop or house , just put a hose on the big tank and couple it to forklift.
Be full the next morning.

second that, what could go wrong with hose connected between tank and fork lift overnight. Do it outside, all I can say.

Back around 2009 we got about 100 Toyotas on lease and gradually phased out all the other brands,,some ran 20 hours a day for months on end then got shuffled to other departments that had less use,,,very few problems in the 5 years I was working in that building.

I’ll agree on the Toyota suggestion. We have two and they just run. Hyd adj forks are super nice but probably just a luxury. But we still have it on both.

I will say do NOT get one with clutch. The autos with two pedals are there for reason, one pedal stops the trans from trying to move as you raise the mast, the other will act like an auto trans car in gear as you raise the mast.Pnuematic tires important.Cage important.Heighth Limit to get into a semi body is important, check wear on steering linkages under counter weight,(usually overlooked with grease gun),side shift super important,if you get a monster you wont be going into a semi box,no forks over 48 inch if you use pallets a lot.OOne of the coldest jobs in the winter is riding in a forklift in the yard.
