Faunsdale, AL
I’m going to bet you can’t get the hex shaft out.

Differential pinion pin worked out and when it came around, it hit the hex shaft and wrecked the transmission pump.

It’s a long shot, but saw a 4230 that did it but while stopped at the fuel tank. When they pulled off it wrecked the hex shaft and pump. I can’t remember but I think tractor would still roll.

Hope I’m wrong. Could run a borescope down in there and take a look to confirm. I doubt you’ll find much in the bottom of the trans.

You can do the brakes while you have the final drives off! Tractor doesn’t have to be split as long as you don’t have to replace the bottom shaft/pinion gear. You can even work under cab with the correct tool to lift the rockshaft. Make it plenty long because the 4630 rockshaft is heavy!

I think I’m right about all that…..it’s been a while and I didn’t do the work. I think the differential was repaired in place on that one instead of being removed.
