Western Oregon | I left home at 12 because I had no say what so ever. I had a start on my own at the old neighbor ladies place that I rented to have something of my own. Dad took the 3 of us boys into partnership at 8, but he and older brother had all the say. I got up, did my work, had breakfast, then had to do older brothers part because he hadn't gotten out of bed yet. That last summer I even worked at the neighbors moving irrigation pipe to pay off the $3,500 loan. All the work I did all summer was gone for more of what they wanted, I was done. I moved in to a 8'x12' chicken coop and took care of my own, all mine, sink or swim. I could see that I was getting somewhere so worked even harder to attain my dream. Didn't come easy but did come fast....James | |
