nc ks | I guess I am coming off a potential bad deal before with a different building company. They brought the building in the summer but he drove through thunderstorms with it un-tarped. Water was between every sheet of tin. It said right on the bill of lading that the load must be tarped so I called the building company to get some answers before I accepted the load as I was not putting the building up for another 6 months. After some talking, he finally agreed to replace any materials that were found to be damaged when it was constructed, I agreed and said fax me a signed statement to the fact right now and I will sign off on the load. We went ahead and unloaded the building, took a couple hours, and still no fax. I called and he was too busy to fax that right now. I gave the driver a personal check instead of the cashiers check and then called him and told him what I did and he came unglued, was going to send another truck up to pick it up, blah blah, sue, blah blah. So I canceled the check. He then called the owner of the company (his boss) who I happened to work with on buying the building. A little later I got a apologetic phone call and a signed fax. The owner remembered working with me and said I could pay when I felt good about the deal. It was hot and windy so I put the tin on trailer on a slope and broke the bands. There was no damage when I put the building up and i got along great with the building company during construction when I needed info or different parts. I just don't want to go through something like this again, but I am afraid the shipper will ignore the tarping requirements. | |
