I’m betting it wasn’t used that much because it wasn’t handy and did not work well.
Well - - - AIUI - - - its a good concept except it doesn't work real well.
The front end of the crankshaft is NOT designed to transmit the entire output of the engine.
Means that you snap off the front end of the crank when things get loaded heavy.
I'm guessing that the tractor had a 3306 in it - - - its a good engine but not up to putting all the jam out the front end of the crank.
Remember reading about it at the time - - - thought of using it on a tractor with no live pto - - -just didn't do it.
Its not a bad idea - - - great for traction in tough going but somehow one would have to pull the power from the back end of the crank. |
