just pointing out some reality that the folks on the front line in both Farm credit and mid to larger banks are nothing but sales people who's only measure of success is how many new $ got booked last week. They have not been through any downturns and the system set up is not set up to let you continue to work with that sales person if financial difficulties arise. and I have seen many examples of the advice being given is not letting you the producer know if your headed in the wrong direction financially. Again the pressure is to sell more and more all of the time. There isn't anyone under the age of 50 who has any idea of what a real downturn looks like in Ag because there hasn't been any. Farm Credit was everyone's buddy up until they weren't in the early 1980's and they went into survival mode for themselves and the leveraged producers suffered the consequences some non leverage producers got sucked up into the vortex as well. Oh I have first hand experience with both Farm credit and medium-large banks and know they are both using the same model.
