As for spinners and VRT, that's exactly what we are hammering out the last kinks on.  Ours is a Mass based system.  Each of our beds has a scale system underneath it.  Lot's of nay-sayers say it can't be done because of the hysteresis effect of the scale data fluctuating to quickly.  That's been solved.

 For us, the nice thing about mass based is that we don't have to do any density sampling and calculations needed for flow (volume) based systems.  It hasn't been a walk in the park getting it to this stage, but it's something we've made a priority for the last couple years.

In the past it was shift up a gear or down a gear to work on specific areas with different rates !
