| Hey everyone, I’m new to this forum and was just looking for some ideas. I am a fairly new farmer, although I’ve worked with dad for many years. I have a chance to rent about 1500 acres of land in the southern canadian prairies. It’s fairly light land, maybe like a Sandy loam/Sandy clay loam. Anyway, I’m used to growing a lot of canola, some wheat, and beans. However, canola does not do well on this land as it does on our heavier clay loam and all acres will be beans from the previous year. Beans do well on this land, but I need to get some sort of rotation going so I am mostly looking for ideas of what cereal crops have decent drought tolerance and have some potential to be profitable In drier conditions.
Sorry if this wasn’t too clear, thanks for any advice! | |
