Cloverland, Wa | Hi all. This summer a good friend brought me this Cat Thirty intake manifold to fix. He just wanted me to weld it up as it was but left it up to me. I had a hunch that there was more rust and carbon inside then met the eye. The sides were mostly broken out anyway so I just went ahead and opened them up all the way with a grinder. I’m glad I did, they were a mess inside. I used electrolysis to cook the rust and carbon out. Once I got them clean I sandblasted the pieces and brazed it all back together. Turned out ok.
Here are some before and after pictures.
