Subject: Drought pre-harvest yield checks

Iowa
I went and did some scouting this last week. I am in NE Iowa and we had great rains all year (at least an inch a week and 11" in June) until the middle of July the rain stopped. We were on track to have our best yields ever until the rain stopped.
I wanted to get a rough idea of how much to contract so I decided to do some scouting and pull some ears. The first variety I grabbed was Pioneer P0306Q, I guess it doesn't handle drought very well at all it had 2-3" of tip back. It looks like overall I will be close or just shy of my APH. If you want to see all the results watch the video below.
