Subject: Soooooo, What I learned about Joint Compound

Gettysburg, PA

Been meaning to get to this post for a few weeks, but, kept forgetting. As you may recall, I was asking on here about joint compound a few weeks back

https://talk.newagtalk.com/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=935911&mid=8349216#M8349216

So, what did I learn:

1 - It looks WAY easier on the videos than it is to actually do it.

2 - Do not get discouraged after the first coat. You got 2 more to get it right.

3 - Contrary to what others have said, I found the self adhesive mesh tape to be easier to use than the paper tape. Sorry..... ETA: maybe it isn't as good, but, the ease of use made it worth it.

4 - Thinning the pre-made buckets of compound is an absolute must!

5 - I made a hawk out of an old table leg and plywood, but, a hawk is the only way to go.

6 - If if has to really look good, HIRE IT OUT!!! :)

Some pics of the final product. Well, I still need to do some sanding before I paint it.
