Subject: RE: Soooooo, What I learned about Joint Compound

North East Wimmera district of Victoria.

Like 40 years ago we extended and modernised our farm kitchen.

Local carpenter dumped us, after we had knocked down a fireplace and chimney at the start of winter. He was building a mates new home - so we got dumped.

He said "Find someone else if you can"  Knowing all locals were busy.

Found a 'lone operator', so told original to get lost!

I worked as carpenters apprentice for the alterations - great experience.

This lone operator did the plastering for our kitchen, did not look too difficult.

So - I took on lowering a ceiling in our bedroom a while later - like next year.

Did all the framework and plastering myself.  I remember using jointing tape and a coarse compound, sanding that dry, then a second coat, sand that too, then a final fine compound coat.

Flat ceiling paint, and I reckon I had a professional job!   Plus great satisfaction.
