KY | 26 horse Briggs vanguard on a mower, 350 hours or so, regular filters/oil/plugs. Low hours but about 13 years on it. Starting to get slow to start, was just noticeable for awhile, but now taking 8-10 seconds of solid cranking with the throttle wide open and choke full closed. Once it starts, idles and runs great. Even when I shut it off hot, still needs choke closed and throttle wide open to start back. Can smell a little fuel as soon as it starts up. Slight surge at full throttle if it’s unloaded. Load it up and surge goes away, or drop the throttle about 10% and can’t notice any surge. Plenty of power. Replaced the inline fuel filter and plugs again when it first started, no change. Non ethanol from the barrel or non-ethanol fresh from a town pump no difference. Where’s the most likely smoking gun? Speaking of smoke, zero smoke, ever. | |
